The Progressive Steps of Truth, Knowledge, and Wisdom
Truth is what we are suppose to hold in our Hearts as we build our Belief System. This is the primal "Starting Point" for anyone hope to eventually gain true wisdom. According to Proverbs 4:23, every important issue of life starts with the Heart that resides as one of three major systems in the Inner Man. Time and again, we are given the admonition that whatever we regard in our Heart will become a life influence. What we believe to be true or allow to become an accepted reality will form the foundation for our lives.
Therefore, the quality of the truths that we adopt will take us to places that are disappointing or wonderful destinations. Unlike some advocates that propose that you can envision or "manifest your destiny", the best understanding that you must build a set of beliefs that will cause good things to occur in your life. Please think this through because this is not human speculation but the way God made us. And He made us this way so that we can experience the difficult and good times that propel us to His best plan for your life.
As a human, we take in an immense amount of information each day. Not everything will be worth considering, some considerations are dismissed, and a few things are judged by your Heart to be worth including in your life. By the way, the information you include in your Heart forms an amazing resource for future reference and behavior going forward. This facility is the Belief System that now becomes critical to how you decide to live your life.
Not everything you allow into your Belief System is actually true or reliable. Over time, we are able to throw out old beliefs and add new beliefs. We've all been fooled and lied to by someone we trusted. Later we discover to our embarrassment that we have been lied to and that led to some embarrassing moments. A used car salesman has no compunction about selling a "lemon car" as a "great deal for the money". His goal is to get the sale and collect a commission. Six weeks later the transmission fails, the engine is burning oil, and the mechanic gives you a list of the very expensive repairs that the car needs.
What you believe today is not always the reliable or true. Experience takes that mistakes as feedback to what we believe in our Heart and allows us to correct what we believe. But, what if we were given the truth at the onset? A good salesperson wants to sell a great car and keep you as a future customer. He cares about his customers as well as his paycheck. So, we now understand that getting the truth upfront is far, far better than realizing the painful mistake later. Experience turns what we properly believe into knowledge.
Wisdom is yet another level of belief. We hear the terms "Saged Wisdom" or "The Wisdom of Experience" which comes from many experience and a refined set of beliefs. The Mind is the long-term process that allows beliefs to be proven time and time again. Like turning gold ore into pure gold, wisdom is not a one-time lesson or a potential good belief. Wisdom comes from a deeper experience over time and refinement of good ideas into successful patterns that produce good results year after year.
